Waitrose Dinner Party

The brilliant James Davies (Art Director) trusted us to shoot as though we were friends and I happened to have a camera, moving through a dinner party in someone's home. Rather than present the food in its tidy, finished state, the intention was to find beauty in the less obvious moments: mid pour, mid serve, half eaten. Food in motion, rather than on a pedestal.

Freedom like this changes the work entirely. When you stop pursuing the perfect frame, you find true authenticity: steam lifting from a pan, a plate passed across the table, the joy of a meal in full flow. I leaned into finding these perfectly imperfect moments, because they are what persuades a viewer a scene is real. It is evidence that a commercial brief and genuine spontaneity can, and does, work. Give a shoot room to breathe and the images come alive.
