Over Here

This series was made entirely on my own terms, for an exhibition staged by my agents, At Collective. I chose five letters from MFK Fisher's An Alphabet for Gourmets to interpret: A for Alone, F for Family, J for Juvenile, O for Ostentatious, and Z for Zakuski. Each became its own tableau, a single set table standing in for a particular feeling about food and the way we eat, from the quiet composure of dining alone to glittering, ostentatious excess.

Working with food stylist Flossy McAslan and prop stylist Maya Angeli, we constructed a distinct world for every letter, with the styling and props carrying as much feeling as the food itself. It was a lot of fun to literally throw food across the table for the Family scene, and I valued the freedom of combining unusual ideas, and being loose and considered at the same time.
